Police investigate 3-car crash involving bus

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating a three-vehicle crash, involving a parked school bus, in the parking lot of a Schuylkill County mall. Troopers said the crash occurred Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of the Fairlane Village Mall in Norwegian Township, near Boscov's Department store.

Troopers said Julie A. Charlton, 69, of Ringtown, was traveling south through the parking lot when her 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis struck a 2008 Ford Taurus driven by Chad W. Strohl, 26, of Shenandoah, who was westbound at the time.Upon impact the Ford spun counterclockwise for about 30 feet and came to rest facing northeast. After impact the Mercury continued southwest for about 30 feet and struck the left side of a 2015 Thomas built school bus, which was parked in a space in the lot. The front of the Mercury became wedged under the school bus. The Shenandoah Valley School District bus was unoccupied at the time.Troopers indicated Charlton and a passenger with Strohl, Desirea L. Ahner, 24, of Shenandoah, were taken to a local hospital to be checked.
