Marian students win state science awards

Five Marian Catholic High School students received awards during the recent Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science State Competition held at Penn State University Park. Alison Anilosky and Grace Mussoline, front row from left, were each awarded first place for their presentations in behavioral psychology, while back row, Aaron Srinivasan, was awarded second place in microbiology, Aidan Hinchey took first place in ecology, and Thomas Betterly was part of the first-place behavioral psychology team. Hinchey also received a $2,000 scholarship to Penn State College of Agriculture. He and Srinivasan were also awarded Five-Year Perseverance Awards. The students were sponsored by Robert Valente, Marian Catholic chemistry teacher, and Lorraine Piehota, retired Bishop Hafey science instructor. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO
