Coaldale man avoids trial

A Coaldale man scheduled to go on trial this week in Carbon County court on charges of simple assault and two counts of persistent disorderly conduct instead entered into an agreement with the district attorney's office and was placed in a special probation program.

Keith Shawn Reed, 36, was charged by Lansford police for an incident on June 2, 2015, at the Lansford-Coaldale Joint Water Authority office at 12 W. Ridge St. Reed went to the office concerning a bill and was accused of causing a disturbance at the office.President Judge Roger N. Nanovic placed Reed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program for first-time offenders for six months and ordered he pay a $650 assessment fee, court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program. Reed did not admit guilt in entering the program.
