Drivers facing DUI after crash

Pocono Mountain Regional Police reported on the following drivers facing DUI charges.

• Tyler Ellis, 23, of Pocono Summit, is facing a charge of driving under the influence following a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 2:39 a.m. on May 24 along Summit Avenue, at Route 314, in Coolbaugh Township. Police said Ellis was traveling on Route 314 at a high rate of speed. He approached the intersection with Summit Avenue, traveled through the intersection and then went off the road. His vehicle traveled about 40 yards before striking a steel beam which was holding up a sign off Summit Avenue. He was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody for DUI. He was transported to the county DUI center for a blood test, which he submitted to. The DUI charge is pending test results.• Russell Evans, 34, of White Haven, was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound on Route 115 in Tunkannock Township at 12:12 p.m. on May 31, when his vehicle struck a fence on private property. Evans continued north before striking the rear of a utility truck. After impact with the truck, he fled the scene and continued northbound. He was stopped along interstate 80 westbound at the Blakeslee exit. Evans showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence. He was then taken to the county prison in Snydersville for processing. He is facing charges of DUI, accidents involving damage to attended vehicle or property and other traffic violations. The DUI charge is pending blood test results.
