Teachers in the Palmerton School District posted a statement Monday morning saying they will suspend their strike and return to the classroom.

They have agreed to continue working through May 30 while negotiators work on a new labor contract.

A statement posted by the Palmerton Area Education Association Monday said that they will return as of January 24.

"It is the hope that the Palmerton Area Education Association and the Palmerton Area School District will be able to reach an agreement over the next four months so it is not necessary to involve and pay a third party outsider to solve what Palmerton people should solve," the statement read.
