Lehigh Twp. supervisors reorganize

On Jan. 3,Lehigh Township supervisors held their reorganizational meeting. Darryl Snover was appointed as temporary chairman and became permanent chairman. Del Grove was named as vice chairman.

Alice Rehrig was chosen as secretary and treasurer. Cindy Miller voted nay because she thought there should be more division in responsibilities. Rehrig was also named township manager.Jacob Schray of Hanover Engineering was appointed zoning officer. The 2017 solicitor will be David Backenstoe and Michael Corriere is legal counsel to the planning commission.Hanover Engineering will continue as the township engineer. Janice Buskirk and assistant Chris Whitley will be sewage enforcement officers for four months, giving supervisors time to work through concerns of 2016.Sandy Hopkins is vacancy board chairman. The job is to choose a person to fill a vacant position if it is not filled within a certain period of time.Carl Sharpe was reappointed to the municipal authority. Ellen Stenger was reappointed to the recreation board. Cindy Miller was reappointed to the planning commission. She abstained from voting for this position. Katherine Mack was reappointed to the zoning hearing board.Lori Lambert was named as the delegate to the tax collection committee with Mary Trexler or Alice Rehrig as alternate.Monthly supervisors' meetings will be the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 7 p.m.; zoning hearing board will meet the second Thursday, 6 p.m., as needed; planning commission will meet on the second Monday, 6 p.m.; and recreation board will meet on the third Monday, 7:30 p.m.Rick Hildebrand was recognized as fire chief and Roger Spadt as fire marshal. Hildebrand is also the alternate assistant coordinator as emergency management coordinator. The EMC is Scott Rehrig with Mike Rehrig as assistant.The manager received a wage increase of 2 percent, assistant to the manager received a 3.5 percent increase with no medical benefits, the planning and zoning secretaries received a 3.5 percent increase, the director of public works received 2 percent and the chief of police received a 3 percent increase, all with a $30 medical contribution per week except as noted.
