Pleasant Valley board meets

At what was a very short board of education meeting, district superintendent Carole Geary announced that the school year had started off smoothly.

"I want to thank Travis (Serfass). The buildings and grounds looked as beautiful as they did for graduation," Geary said. "And there were almost no transportation issues. Thank you, Josh (Krebs). By the second day buses were almost running on schedule."In other business the district hired three part-time paraprofessionals. Sandy Bojko, Ashley Gulla and Tess Staples were hired pending completion of necessary paperwork. Jaclyn Navak was hired as a substitute paraprofessional. Betty Lou VanHorn was hired as a third shift custodian.Payments totaling $289,037.71 were made from the bond fund to Siemens Industry Inc. and Tremco Weatherproofing.Siemens was paid $30,500 for a new Building Automation System which controls the HVAC units.Tremco is completing Phase II of the roof restoration project at the high school.
