Matsinko claims Grid Pick title

"Hey, I know you. You do well picking those football games each week."

Apparently, yes.Though the Grid Picks season ended in the middle of November, now seems as good a time as ever to recap the 2016 campaign.Championships never come easy, and I had to work for my title. Heading into the final week of the season, I was just one game ahead of Rod Heckman. But I closed with a 13-2 mark in the final week to outpace my rivals and finish with a final record of 149-46 to win this year's crown. Heckman remained second with a 9-6 mark in the final week of the season to finish at 144-51.Four tossups went my way in the final week, as Schuylkill Haven, Parkland, Williamsport and North Pocono all picked up wins to give me some breathing room. Heckman was on the other end of those contests, picking West Catholic, Freedom, State College and Berwick.Though the top five went unchanged, there was little room for error at the top entering the final week. Bob Ford went 10-5 in the final week and finished at 143-52, to retain third, one game ahead of Brad Hurley (142-53), who went 11-4 in the last week of the season and held onto the fourth position.Andy Steinmetz rounded out the top five, going 10-5 in the final week and finishing at 140-55 to remain fifth.Rich Strack leapfrogged Sam Matta for sixth with a stellar 13-2 final week to end up at 135-60. Matta posted an 11-4 record and finished the season 134-61.The dynamic duo of Justin Carlucci (11-4) and Emmett McCall (9-6) finished tied at 130-65, while TJ Engle finished 10th with a record of 118-77.So, that's it.Grid picks always seem to be a topic of conversation, and now I can hang my hat, or headshot, on the 2016 title.
