Nesquehoning crash

Several persons were injured, one seriously, in a head-on crash Thursday morning along SR209 in Nesquehoning. The crash, involving a mini- van and a sport utility vehicle, occurred at 11:30 a.m. on what is commonly known as the Wash Shanty Hill. The van traveling north came to rest in the southbound lane after impact. The sport utility vehicle, which was traveling south, entered the right berm before rolling and coming to rest on its side. Members of the Nesquehoning Fire Department worked to extricate the victim, an elderly woman, from the wreckage. The road was closed for over an hour. Nesquehoning police are investigating the incident. The injured were treated at the scene by members of the Nesquehoning ambulance and Lehighton paramedics. Efforts to reach police this morning for the names of those involved were unsuccessful.
