Tamaqua man jailed following disturbance

A disturbance in Tamaqua on March 17 landed Michael P. Kemmerer, 27, of 100 Pitt St., in the Schuylkill County prison in Pottsville.

Officers were dispatched to Kemmerer's home at 7:55 p.m. They found him inside the home yelling at a man who was standing outside. A woman was inside the home, at a window. She told police Kemmerer told her she wasn't allowed to leave the residence.The disturbance started when Kemmerer grabbed the woman by the hair and punched her in the face. The other man heard the commotion and went to see what was happening. Kemmerer grabbed him by the throat and began punching him in the face.Kemmerer was charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned before duty District Judge David Rossi, of Tremont, who set bail at $15,000 straight cash. Kemmerer was taken to the county prison when he was unable to post bail.
