Schuylkill County is gearing up to clean up.

Commissioners on Wednesday approved the county's annual fall cleanup, to be held from Sept. 14 through Sept. 26 at 13 sites: Pottsville, Hegins Township, Minersville, the CES landfill, Girardville, North Manheim Township, Schuylkill Haven, Wayne Township, Porter Township, the Tamaqua Transfer Station, Ringtown and Tremont.Acceptable items include tires, electronics, appliances and bulky items.This event is open to all county residents.The state Department of Environmental Resources reimburses the county up to 50 percent of the costs for this event.Keep an eye out for newspaper and radio advertisements, along with the county's website, for a list of the exact collection locations.Commissioners also agreed to seek bids for electronic material collection and waste tire collection and recycling.The bids will be accepted in the controller's office until 3 p.m., Aug. 3, with bid opening at the commissioners' work session at 10 a.m. Aug. 5.Commissioners expect to award the job at 10 a.m. Aug. 12.
