Palmerton police arrest man after scuffle

Palmerton police charged a borough man after he scuffled with an officer trying to put him into a cruiser.

Shannon E. Lacy, 42, faces charges of resisting arrest, simple assault, terroristic threats, persistent disorderly conduct, disorderly conduct and harassment. The charges stem from an incident on July 18.According to a criminal complaint filed by Det. Kevin Buck, here's what happened:At 11:12 a.m. that day, Buck was dispatched to 265 Avenue B on a report of a suicidal man with a knife. He was met by a woman. Inside, Lacy was yelling, and the woman told Buck he had been running around with a knife and had stabbed it into a table. She also said Lacy had been found with a belt around his neck in the back room. The woman said he had shoved her to the floor and threatened her, and had threatened to harm himself.Buck suggested to Lacy that it would be a good idea for him to go to the hospital, but he refused. Buck told him he was going, and Lacy "took an aggressive stance" and screamed no.Buck tried to handcuff him, and the two scuffled. As Buck led him, handcuffed, to the cruiser, Lacy kicked open the screen door to the house and began shouting obscenities.Buck told him to stop, but he kept yelling and threatened the officer, saying "as soon as I take the cuffs off things will be different."
