Driver runs red light, causes crash

A Schuylkill County driver ran a red light and crashed into the side of another vehicle. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the crash occurred at 11:40 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Route 61 and Brick Hill Road in West Brunswick Township.

Troopers said Thomas J. Seddon, 22, of Shenandoah, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze northbound and failed to stop for a red traffic signal. He entered the intersection and struck a 2013 Ford Explorer, operated by Cherie D. Bogotuik, 37, of Orwigsburg, on the passenger side as she traveled through the intersection. Upon impact the Ford spun 180 degrees and came to rest in the northbound travel lane.The Cruze continued forward for about 35 feet after impact and came to rest in a grassy area adjacent to a local bank.Seddon was injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street in Pottsville. Neither Bogotuik nor a 1-year-old male passenger were injured. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.Troopers cited Seddon for the red-light violation.
