Schuylkill commissioners commend firefighters

Schuylkill County commissioners this week praised Englewood Fire Company volunteers for saving the life of Mount Carmel assistant fire chief James Reed Sr. in March.

Reed, 59, was on the second of one of several burning homes in his borough on March 16 when he collapsed under debris that fell on him.The four Englewood firefighters, Steve Oravitz, Dave Malloy, Mark Cuttic and Scott Taylor, all member of the company's Rapid Intervention Team, heard the "mayday" call from Reed and fought their way through fire and smoke to rescue him.
