Volunteers keep Nesquehoning Creek clear

Three members of the Nesquehoning Conservation Club spent a balmy fall day Saturday clearing debris from the creek that runs between the Panther Valley Elementary School and Maple Shade Meadows Senior Living center.

Nesquehoning Mayor Sam Kitchko, along with Bob Dunstan and Joe Drozdak, pulled branches from the water, sawed fallen trees and picked up litter along the way.Kitchko said most of the debris was from a violent storm that swept through the borough in August.
