Cruise plans progress

Layne "Doc" Roberts of Penn's Peak Radio is making plans for the ninth annual spring cruise.

It will be held May 10-17 and sail from New York to Bermuda.This tour will offer a special prize: A 2012 Yamaha Roadliner 1900cc motorcycle.Roberts is excited about this cruise and said, "It's on a Norwegian Ship, a five-star resort on water."The cruise has such activities as walk the plank, bowling alley, video arcades, activities for children, swim area, water park and ropes.He said, "The cost is just $952 for an inside cabin for the whole week. This includes a beach party in Bermuda."The cruise is through Boscov Travel, which has been in business for 40 years.Roberts said you can use a Boscov credit card and it will be interest free for 12 months, plus offer rewards points. Also, when you sign up for the cruise, the final payment isn't due until next February. You have until Jan. 15 to make reservations.Besides the beach party, there are two private cocktail parties and an open bar. Also scheduled are '70s and '80s dance nights and fireworks on the ship one night.The trip leaves from Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe, and participants are bused to New York.The motorcycle is through Blocker Yamaha Kawasaki Kymco, 497 S. Ninth St., Lehighton where it is on display.People who sign up for the cruise are automatically entered in the drawing for the motorcycle.Roberts said you don't have to buy the cruise to enter the motorcycle contest.
