Personnel actions approved

Carbon County's Bureau of Collections in the Clerk of Courts office has a new director.

On Thursday, the county commissioners and salary board approved personnel actions on the position.Eric D. Johnston of Jim Thorpe, who currently served as a domestic relations officer II in the Domestic Relations office, was named director of the bureau of collections, effective Oct. 14. He replaces Madeline T. Ligenza of Jim Thorpe, who retired from the position on Sept. 12.He will be paid $35,399 a year per the action taken by the salary board immediately following the commissioners' meeting.In other matters, the following personnel salary actions were taken.• District attorney's office: Establish the position of one full-time assistant district attorney at $56,000 per year, effective Oct. 2.• Public defender's office: Change the salary of one assistant public defender from $43,166.56 per year to $35,000 per year, effective Oct. 2.• Court administration: Change the salary of one law clerk from $32,086.60 per year, to $31,158.40 per year, effective Oct. 2.• Area Agency on Aging: Change the rate of one part-time senior center manager I from $11.71 per hour, to $10.72 per hour, effective Oct. 2. This position is excluded from the retirement plan because it is not anticipated to work 1,000 hours.
