Marian student honoredby Chemical Society

Marian Catholic High School student Matthew Karnish, son of Gary and Chris Karnish of Nesquehoning, was honored May 7 by the Susquehanna Valley Chapter of the American Chemical Society after he was ranked as a section winner on a chemistry exam given by the society. Schools are divided into geographic regions for the exams, with Marian's region including public and private schools from Wilkes-Barre, Nanticoke, Mountaintop and Hazleton. The awards were presented during a banquet held at the Linksat Hemlock Creek Restaurant in Bloomsburg. Adviser Robert Valente accompanied Karnish to the banquet.
