Rush Township rollover injures two

Two women suffered injuries and were taken to the hospital after their vehicle rolled over and flipped into the woods Tuesday evening in Rush Township.

Emergency units responded to the intersection of Lafayette Avenue and Ye Old Hauto Road at 5:25 p.m. after a Schuylkill Communications Center dispatch for a single-vehicle rollover without entrapment.The vehicle, a Chevrolet Ventura van, was found in the woods adjacent to the westbound lane. It landed on its roof, which partially collapsed. The two unidentified occupants were taken to St. Luke's Hospital - Miners Campus by Ryan Township ambulance. Both women were talking to emergency responders and their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.The mishap took place at the west end of a portion of Route 54 commonly called the Hauto Stretch.Other units responding included Hometown Fire Co. and Hometown Fire Police.The incident is being investigated by Rush Township Police Office Adam Sinton.
