The temperature was 85 degrees and climbing in Tamaqua on Tuesday at 1 p.m. as July announced the start of summer in a big way.

The mugginess made the air feel even warmer and there wasn't a pedestrian in sight.

Still, the current heat wave won't challenge the hottest Pennsylvania temperature ever recorded, 111 degrees in Phoenixville on July 10, 1936, according to the National Climatic Data Center.
