Writers' group plans 'boot camp'

Registration is open for the Black Diamond Writers Network Writing Boot Camp on Saturday, April 26 at the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St., Tamaqua, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Sessions will be led by Kathryn Craft, developmental editor and owner/president of WritingPartner, a manuscript editing service. Sourcebooks recently released Craft's debut novel, "The Art of Falling."She will help writers overcome sticking points that have prevented them from getting started, as well as offer tips and tricks for keeping storylines moving.During the morning session, "Word Dancing," Craft will contemplate the effective use of silence, "look at when to trash the rules, grab paragraphs by the scruff of the neck, and force them to do your bidding," she promises.In the afternoon session, "I Wrote It Now What?", she will offer self-editing tips, as well as explore options for writers who have finished their manuscript.The day will also include lunch provided by BDWN, a Q&A with Craft about the writing, editing, and publishing process, and a book signing. Copies of her novel will be available for purchase.There is a fee and pre-registration is suggested.
