LAHS class of 2014
Lehighton Area High School class of 2014 will hold its all night party planning meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at the high school, room D-124. All parents or guardians of students in the graduating class of 2014 are invited to attend to help with planning the all night party. There will be discussions and sign ups regarding the party, fundraising and forming a committee.
Lehighton AMVETS, Elwood Miller Post 106, has issued its quarterly report.
Adjutant Randy Rabenold reports that the Post (as part of the United Veterans Organization Honor Guard) has participated in the military funerals of James Gerber, U.S.A.F., Vietnam; Robert Hinkle, U.S. Army, World War II; Leonard Kolek, U.S. Army, Korea; Daniel Kurdilla, U.S. Marine Corps, Korea; averaging about 12 men per funeral.
The Post also participated in a monument dedication in Bowmanstown dedicated to veterans of World War II and Korea, and Dave Bryfogle, and Kevin Long spoke to National Guardsmen on military funerals.
The Post awarded $200 in Americanism Contest awards and awarded the annual $250 scholarships to Kristina Schnell and donated $25 to the Halloween Parade Committee and $25 to the U.V.O. for Veterans Day expenses plus other expenses.
The organization meets the third Sunday of each month at 3 p.m. at the Lehighton V.F.W. on North Street. New members are always welcomed.
