Matthew Rehrig and Ayumi Wakamatsu held a stateside wedding ceremony on Aug. 10, 2013 at the home of the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Conner of West Penn Township. This renewal of vows was officiated by the Rev. Gary Rarick.

The couple was married May 5, 2013, in Japan.The West Penn Township ceremony was celebrated with a garden wedding, followed by a pig roast reception with approximately 200 guests. Music was provided by DJ "Uncle Monte" with guest singer Jean Andrews.After a honeymoon trip to Quebec, the couple returned to their home in Tokai City, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan.The bride is the daughter of Hiroshi and Yoko Wakamatsu of Naka City, Japan. She is a graduate of Mito Secondary High School and Tokai University, Tokyo, Japan and is employed by Yamaha Corp. in the English education department.The bridegroom is a 2002 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School and a 2006 graduate of California University of PA.He is employed by ECC Japan as an English teacher. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Brown of Lehighton.
