Carbon names new planning director

A number of employment positions were acted upon Thursday, including naming and setting the salary of the new director of the Carbon County Office of Planning and Development.

During the monthly meeting of the county salary board, which follows the weekly meeting of the county commissioners, the commissioners voted to approve David J. Bodnar of Tresckow as the new director of planning and development. He fills the position that became vacant on Sept. 3, after Judy Borger, former director, retired. Previously, Bodnar served as the project coordinator in that department.His new position will become effective Dec. 9.During the salary board meeting, Bodnar's salary was set at $42,078.40 per year, effective Dec. 5.In addition, the salary board established the positions of two sergeants in the sheriff's office at a rate of $13.81 per hour; abolished one lieutenant position at $16.14 per hour and one deputy sheriff position at $12.77 per hour; and changed the rate of one special deputy sheriff from $11.36 per hour to $10.40 per hour. All are effective Dec. 5.A county caseworker I position in the Children and Youth Services was also established at a rate of $13.29 per hour, effective Dec. 5; and the salary of the Geographic Information Systems director was changed to $30,537 per year, effective Dec. 5.
