Police pursuit involves nursing home resident

A nursing home resident from a Nesquehoning nursing home was taken to the hospital after leading police on a two and a half mile chase through Carbon and Schuylkill County yesterday.

Police reported that the elderly man was suffering from a mental condition when he got behind the wheel of a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck around noon on Sunday at the Maple Shade Meadows Assisted Living facility.While driving west on SR54, near the Lake Hauto entrance, Nesquehoning Police officer Tim Wuttke activated his sirens and lights in an attempt to pull the man over. After hitting a guardrail, the elderly man eventually pulled over in front of the Sky-View Memorial Park Cemetery in Hometown. Also responding were police from Rush Township and Tamaqua, as well as Tamaqua Ambulance.
