Neil Kennedy, 55, of 10 W. Bertsch St., Lansford, faces charges from an incident which took place on Nov. 16 at 7:17 p.m. at his home. Charges of simple assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct were filed by Officer Joshua Tom. Kennedy was arraigned and committed to prison under $2,500 cash bail.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, here's what happened:

Tom and Officer Thomas Fort were on duty when a Daniel Kennedy walked into the police station, bleeding from his nose and mouth, and with red marks on his face. He told the officers that he was in the kitchen, getting dinner, when his brother, Neil Kennedy, came running down the stairs and started attacking him.

Neil Kennedy continued to punch him in the face and head. At one point, Daniel Kennedy fell to the floor and Neil Kennedy got on top of him, punching him. Daniel pleaded for him to stop, which Neil finally did. Police called Lansford EMS to take Daniel to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, for treatment. Police arrested Neil Kennedy at his house without incident. Neil admitted to having struck his brother, but said it wasn't until Daniel put up his hands in a fighting stance. Police noted that Neil's right hand and knuckles were bloodied, but that he had no other injuries.
