Penn Forest Planning Commission meeting cancelled

Penn Forest township residents anxious to revisit the Navitat zip line project will have to wait until at least December. The planning commission meeting which was scheduled for Monday, Nov. 26 was called off late Tuesday.

"…the meeting has been cancelled due to Navitat not being prepared to respond to the Township Engineer's requests at this time and there being no other agenda items…" was the statement of township administrator Cindy Henning.Navitat Canopy Adventures is currently seeking permission from the planning commission to develop a piece of property off of Bear Creek Drive. The property, which runs along the Lehigh Valley Gorge, has been identified by Navitat as an ideal spot for a zip line tour through the trees. The December meeting date has yet to be set. The planning commission usually meets on fourth Monday of the month. The fourth Monday in December falls on Christmas Eve this year."As of today we do not have a request from Navitat to be on the December agenda. They are required to make the request at least two weeks in advance" said Henning.Once the meeting has been scheduled, the township will advertise in the Times News. Anyone missing the notice may call the township at (570) 325-2769 for updates.
