Dream Come True, Blue Ridge Chapter, will hold its annual telethon from 5 to 9 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 18, at Penn's Peak, Jim Thorpe. The telethon will be aired live on Blue Ridge Communications TV-13 and Service Electric, channel 90 in the Tamaqua area.

Hosts for the evening will be Nick Hawkey, George Roberts, and Kristal Nemeroff.Funds raised at the telethon will be used to help this all volunteer organization fulfill dreams for seriously, chronically and terminally ill children in Carbon County and surrounding communities.The lineup of entertainment includes Tommy Zito (The Piano Man), who will entertain with his comic personality, impersonations and his never ending repertoire of music. There will also be performances by Erin Kelly, Joe Urban and Robin Drexler, Joyful Noise, Angela Nardini, Tricia's Dance Routine, Dance with Kim Studio, Donna Parsons with Frank and Resa Hall and Roger Berger; and Arthur Terembula. Also performing are the bands, Leaders of the Press, Coal County Express, Becky and the Beasts and Blue Mountain Christmas.Several children who have had dreams fulfilled will also be on hand to talk about their dream.Eileen Thompson, president of the Dream Come True, Blue Ridge Chapter and telethon chairman/chairwoman, said, "Our dedicated volunteers have been busy. We completed eight dreams so far this year, with six dreams already approved for completion next year and three children in various stages of paperwork required before dream approval. We are proud to have four children, who have had dreams fulfilled, taking advantage of our Scholarship Program for four years at an accredited school. We have two children who have completed the scholarship program."Eligible scholarship recipients receive $1,000 a semester for a total of four years at an accredited school for a maximum of $8,000.Thompson added that Dream Come True-Blue Ridge Chapter also has a funeral benefit which helped to pay funeral expenses for three children since this chapter's inception."Our chapter also provides a holiday party and a summer outing for our dream recipients. this year we enjoyed a night at the Iron Pigs ballgame with a buffet dinner on the PPL patio," said Thompson.Dream Come True-Blue Ridge Chapter is 100 percent volunteer and all money raised is used for the children. The telethon gives the organization an opportunity to formally thank the many organizations and individuals who support their cause, through monetary donations or by volunteering their time and talents.
