Lehighton church holds co-ed track & field fitness camp

ANDREW LEIBENGUTH/TIMES NEWS Members and volunteers of the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lehighton wrapped up their co-ed track and field camp on Friday at the Tamaqua Area Sports Stadium. The event, which was for kids aged 5 through 13, involved five days of track and field competitions raning from short sprints to mid-distance events. Field events consisted of horizontal and vertical jumps along with three different throws, hurdling, relays and multi-events. Campers learned ways to train and condition for track and field events, as well as having the chance to participate in a track and field meet. Elizabeth McDermott, above 12, just barely takes the lead against Trent Geist, 10. Both McDermott and Geist won a number of first place spots in the competition.
