At approximately 2:48 p.m. Thursday a white male robbed the PNC bank branch, located next to the Carbon Plaza Mall along SR443 in Lehighton.
According to Mahoning Township Police Officer Audie Mertz, the suspect entered the bank and displayed a note.
Mertz stated that the suspect did not have any weapons displayed. After receiving an undetermined amount of money, the suspect fled southeast into the parking lot.
Surveillance footage indicates that the suspect may be the same individual who robbed the KNBT Bank in Schnecksville on May 24. In that case, the suspect drove off in a 2004-2005 gold or brown Ford pickup truck.
The suspect is described as being in his late 40s or early 50s and 5-foot, 6 inches to 5-foot, 7 inches tall with a skinny build. He was last seen wearing a dark hoodie with a white T-shirt, shorts, dark-rimmed glasses and a gray baseball cap with the words "Nittany Lions" on the front.
If anyone recognizes him, contact Mahoning Township Police at (570) 386-2241, or Officer Audie Mertz at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Police from surrounding communities as well as the Pennsylvania State Police were summoned and assisted Mahoning Township police at the scene.
