A Mahoning Township man who allegedly took his ex-girlfriend's car, then allegedly threatened to kill the ex-girlfriend, and who allegedly hurled a rock through a Lehighton resident's window waived a hearing on all the charges, yesterday.

Steven Paul Brownmiller, 49, of Jamestown Street, opted to issue a guilty plea to the charges. They will now be forwarded for processing in Carbon County Court.The hearing was to have been in front of District Judge Edward Lewis of Jim Thorpe.There were three separate criminal complaints filed before Lewis for Brownmiller.On one, he is being charged with simple assault, unauthorized use of automobiles, and harassment.Another complaint charges him with two counts of loitering and prowling at nighttime, harassment (repeatedly annoy/alarm), disorderly conduct, and criminal mischief.The third complaint is for allegedly receiving stolen property.The arresting officers are Patrolman Daniel M. Long of the Mahoning Township Police Department, and Chief of Police Neil Ebbert and Officer Michael Svetik, both of the Lehighton Police Department.The charges filed by Long stem from an incident which occurred on June 19.Long said he was dispatched to Packerton Dam Road for a report that a female there reported that her ex-boyfriend tried to kidnap her.She allegedly told Long that she picked up Brownmiller in Lehighton. She said to police that he told her to pull over on Springhill Road in Mahoning Township because he had to use the bathroom.Hunter then allegedly grabbed the car keys and telephone of the girl.The affidavit says that Brownmiller climbed over the center seat of the car. The ex-girlfriend got away, but then Brownmiller was able to grab her.According to the court document, the girl told police that Brownmiller dragged her along the side of the road in the dirt by her hair.There were witnesses to the incident who told Long they saw Brownmiller attempt to force the girl into the car.Svetik filed charges against Brownmiller from an alleged incident on June 12 at 11:12 p.m. in Lehighton. It is alleged Brownmiller called the ex-girlfriend numerous times on his cellular phone.Brownmiller also allegedly tossed a piece of concrete through a window of the home, occupied by the ex-girlfriend.Chief Ebbert filed his complaint against Brownmiller after the ex-girlfriend's car was found in Lehighton.
