A one-vehicle crash shutdown a busy Schuylkill County road for over two hours and interrupted electrical power for almost 500 people on Tuesday. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the accident occurred about 7:34 a.m. in the area of 142 Pottsville St., in Cressona.

Troopers said Margaret Phillips, of Blandon, Berks County, was driving a 2007 Ford Fusion westbound headed toward SR183 when she lost control of the car.

The vehicle went onto the berm and struck a utility pole. After impact with the pole the car traveled northwest and struck a garage at 132 Pottsville St.

Troopers said Phillips was taken to the Reading Hospital for treatment of injuries. Troopers said the PPL crews replaced the pole and restored power to the affected customers.

Phillips is facing numerous motor vehicle code violations, troopers added.
