Northwestern picked up victories in baseball, softball and soccer on Wednesday.

BASEBALL

No. Lehigh-Palmerton

Palmerton scored three runs in the seventh to come from behind and defeat Northern Lehigh in its Colonial League baseball game, 10-9.

The bottom of the seventh started with Ryan Saylor getting his fourth hit of the game. After a flyout, Brett Snyder singled and was followed by CJ Cressman's RBI single to right. An out and two strikes later, pinch hitter Lee Kuntz knocked an infield single to score the winning run.

Saylor also had four RBIs on the day.

Joel Snyder, Kyle Schomp and Cody Hallman each had two hits for Northern Lehigh.

Northwestern scored six runs in the final three innings to run away from Catty, 8-2 in Colonial League action.

Richard Perry went seven strong for the Tigers (7-1, 4-1), striking out seven en route to the win.

Teammate Austin Kelly led the offensive attack with four hits and three RBIs.

No. Lehigh-Moravian

Ani Acopian and Taylor Gaspari each scored two goals and led Moravian over Colonial League for Northern Lehigh, 7-1.

The Bulldogs' lone goal was scored by Morgan Kravitz. Goalie Kaylee Owens made 16 stops in net despite the loss.

N'western-Notre Dame

Northwestern scored four goals in each half en route to blanking Notre Dame of Green Pond, 8-0 in Colonial League play.

Anna Fricchione and Emily Bartlett each scored twice for the Lady Tigers (8-0). Teammates Sabrina Mertz, Haylee Kubat, Rachel Kester and Angela Motolese added the other four goals. Kester also had two assists.

Goalie Trista Cunningham made five saves in net.

Palmerton-Palisades

Palisades routed Palmerton on the Colonial League soccer pitch, winning 9-0.

Elissa Berdini led the Pirates with five goals in her quest for 100 in her career.

BOYS TENNIS

ES South-Pleasant Vy.

Pleasant Valley swept MVC foe East Stroudsburg South on the tennis courts, winning 7-0.

The Bears (9-1, 7-1) won every match in straight sets. All three singles players in Vince Voulo, Jon White and Jon Walmach won without losing more than four games.

The locals also received four wins from all of their doubles teams. They were Noah Soltis/Erik Ammermann, Kyle Tamaraz/Lou Bravo, Stevie Berry/Mike Hughart and James Osinski/Jeff Olah.

The Tamaqua and Jim Thorpe tennis teams began their battle at the Olympians' home court, before hail and rain halted the match.

At that point, Jim Thorpe's Corey Ligenza had already prevailed, 6-0, 6-1 over Christian Gardiner at No. 1 singles.

The four other matches were suspended.

The teams will resume the match today at 4pm.

Blue Mountain rolled to a Schuylkill League Division 1 sweep over Jim Thorpe.

The Blue Mountain boys won by a final score of 87-62, while the girls handed the Olympians a 124-26 setback.

Thorpe's Cat Condly set a new school record in the javelin with a toss of 105-8.

For the boys, P.J. Johnson won the 100 and long jump.

Tamaqua earned a split of its Schuylkill League track meet against North Schuylkill.

The Blue Raider girls gained an 88-62 win while the boys dropped an 86-63 decision.

Kayla Hope (200, long and triple jumps) won three events while Maria Streisel (100, high jump) and Christine Streisel (shot, javelin) each had two firsts to help the Tamaqua girls win 12 of the 18 events.

In the boys meet, Tyler Hope earned a pair of firsts (100, javelin). The Raiders swept the javelin and discus and had a 33-30 edge in field events, but the Spartans owned the track (56-30).

Lehighton-ES North

Gwen Remaley broke a 29-year school record to help the Lehighton girls roll to a 116 1/2-33 1/2 Mountain Valley Conference win over East Stroudsburg North.

The Indian boys, however, dropped am 83-67 decision to the Timberwolves.

Remaley threw 38-0 in the shot put to better the mark of 37-5 set by Tiven Steigerwalt back in 1983. Remaley also won the shot put.

The Lehighton girls also received multiple firsts from Sage Terembula (100, 200), Jennifer Beers (1600, 3200) and Maris Stern (100 & 300 hurdles).

In the boys meet, Monte Thompson (200) and David Magyar (300 hurdles) each won an individual first and were on the winning 1600 relay team.
