Becker Homes celebrating 50 years

Customer satisfaction is a hallmark of any successful business.

That tried and true tradition has proved to be the recipe for success at Becker Homes in Walnutport.Five decades since its inception, the third-generation business is in the midst of its 50-year anniversary celebration.Carl Becker, co-owner, said his father, Richard Becker, owner, began the business in 1961."We've seen a lot of changes over the last 50 years," Carl Becker said. "We evolved to Becker Homes because of our modular homes and more permanent housing."Carl said Becker Homes is a "family operation" that has sold "thousands of homes.""We have a lot of repeat customers that have bought here," he said. "We've served quite a few generations."The business predominantly serves customers within about a 50-mile radius throughout Lehigh, Northampton, Carbon and Monroe counties, Carl said."There's never high pressure," he said. "We give them a home they are looking for and what they need."Carl said the business specializes in the sale of manufactured homes at affordable rates."Part of what helps us sell homes is our pricing," he said. "We're able to offer better quality."Among the more notable changes Carl has observed in recent years are the customers themselves."We have seen the type of customer has changed, and some are buying a smaller home than they would have," he said. "The quality of homes has changed, and the codes have changed."Carl said all of the homes have at least a one-year warranty; some come with up to a 10-year warranty, he said."We're not for much on bragging," Carl said. "We try to run a clean, simple operation, and make our customers feel comfortable."Becker Homes is open Monday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday from 9-5, and Friday from 9-4:30.For more information, call (610) 767-5248, or visit beckerhomesofpa.com.
