Heffley's National Water Safety Month resolution passes House

A resolution to designates May 2011 as National Water Safety Month in Pennsylvania has passed in the House of Representatives.

House Resolution 288, which state Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) sponsored, encourages Americans to be water aware. May is the month when most pools and recreational water parks open to the public. The goal is to promote water safety and decrease the number of water-related injuries and deaths.Prior to the passage of the resolution, Heffley was joined by Carl Wilgus, executive director of the Pocono Mountain Visitors Bureau; Luke Borowy, aquatics director at H2Oooohh Indoor Waterpark; and Chuck Dickinson, director of special projects at Split Rock Resort and Golf Club, in Harrisburg.
