Pleasant Valley picked up victories in baseball, softball and tennis to highlight Thursday scholastic sports card. Lehighton also enjoyed success, picking up wins in baseball and soccer.

Salisbury-Palmerton-Northern Lehigh

Palmerton went 2-0 in its Colonial League track meet with Salisbury, while Northern Lehigh finished 1-1.

The Lady Bombers had three multiple event winners. Casey Rinfret won the 100-meter dash and the long jump; Kristen Romano placed first both of the hurdles events; and Kelsey Hay posted victories in the discus and javelin.

In the boys meet, Palmerton's Kevin Seemiller captured the 800 and 1600-meter endurance races.

Marian split in its track meet with Nativity.

The Colts posted an 81-60 victory while the Fillies suffered a 76-65 setback.

Two Marian boys won multiple events on the day. Kyle Garber captured the long jump and the high jump while teammate Bobby Kelly took home the 200-meter dash and the triple jump.

The only Fillie to win two events was Alex Hutta. She tied for first in the 100-meter dash and won the 200-meter dash outright.

Blue Mountain never trailed in its 11-4 Schuylkill League victory over Tamaqua.

The Blue Eagles scored seven runs in the fourth inning, with four of those runs being unearned due to two Tamaqua errors.

Ryan Palsgrove went 2-for-4 with two runs scored for the Raiders. He also struck out six on the mound.

Marian struggled defensively in an 11-6 Schuylkill League loss to Schuylkill Haven.

Haven jumped out to an early 7-0 lead as five Colt errors led to six unearned runs.

Marian tried to battle back behind the hitting of Mark Stawick (two hits, two RBIs); Ron Kosar (two-run homer); and Corey Ryba (two hits, RBI), but fell short.

Despite the setback, the Colts (8-5, 7-3) remained in first place in Divsion 3 of the Schuylkill League thanks to Nativity's loss to Mahanoy Area.

Chris Palubinsky tossed a complete game two-hitter to help aid in Shenandoah Valley's 2-0 Schuylkill League win over visiting Weatherly.

Palubinsky struck out 10 and only allowed two walks to earn the win on the mound. The Wreckers' James Belletiere was the tough luck loser as he only allowed two hits.

The Blue Devils' Chris Bonk delivered a solo homer in the sixth inning to add an insurance run.

Cody Hoffman and Mark Miller recorded the Wreckers' lone hits.

Derek Heffelfinger delivered a clutch two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift Lehighton to a 7-5 Mountain Valley Conference victory over East Stroudsburg South.

With the scored tied at 5-5, A.J. Wenrich reached on a one-out walk to start the Lehighton rally. Matt Rebovich came on to pinch run and moved to second when Anthony Farole reached on an error. After a wild pitch moved the runners into scoring position, Heffelfinger drilled his base hit to put the Indians on top.

Heffelfinger had two hits and two RBIs for the Indians, who improved their record to 11-2 overall and 7-1 in the MVC. Jacen Nalesnik added two hits and scored a run. Tyler Harris and Farole both contributed two-run doubles.

Pleasant Valley scored five runs in both the second and fifth innings to mercy rule Pocono Mountain West, 10-0, in Mountain Valley Conference action.

Xavier Hammond took the hill for the Bears (8-5, 6-2) and struck out nine while allowing just one hit en route to earning the victory.

Hammond received some run support from teammate Jim Beidleman, who finished the day 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs. Fellow Bear John Guadagna also had two hits.

The Blue Raiders scored all their runs in the fifth inning. Jordan Nowacki's two-run single was the key blow. She later scored the final tamaqua run on an Amy Zehner bunt single.

Tamaqua's Allie Sotak tossed a complete game two-hitter, striking out seven, to earn the win.

Angie Piscitelli and Sarah-Mary Tucker accounted for the Panthers' hits.

In the nightcap, North Schuylkill posted a 10-0 win.

The Indians' keeper Kayla Troutman grabbed five saves to earn the shutout victory. Kaylee Owens finished with 10 saves for the Bulldogs.

Lehighton improves to 3-14 overall. Northern Lehigh falls to 3-14.
