The Anatomy and Physiology class at Marian High School witnessed a live knee replacement surgery on February 25. The program was offered through COSI (Center of Science and Industry) from Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. The Marian students, along with six other schools from across the country, were able to ask questions of the surgical team as they worked. The surgery was preceded by and followed up with related classroom activities that included constructing a hinge, joint, tying a suture knot, examining X-rays, and maintaining sterile conditions.
