Rig operator facing counts after crash

An out-of-state tractor trailer operator is facing charges following a crash along Interstate 81 in Delano Township, Schuylkill County, that occurred about 9:53 p.m. on Saturday, July 23.

State police at Frackville said Keneth A. Dennis, 62, of Clayton, N.C., was driving a 2007 Freightliner Century with trailer northbound in a construction area with one lane of travel. Dennis lost control of the rig when its passenger side tires went into the drop off in the right lane. Dennis attempted to correct the rig, then traveled north through the left lane. The driver's side front end struck the guide rail. The rig continued north after impact and eventually made impact with a concrete bridge rail where it came to rest. The trailer portion tipped over and came to rest on top of the bridge rail.Dennis sustained a minor injury but refused medical treatment. Dennis will be cited for multiple motor vehicle code violations, troopers added.Assisting troopers at the scene were volunteers from the Delano and Ryan townships fire companies and the Ryan Township ambulance corps.
