Drug dealing couple sentenced

A Carbon County couple, who admitted to drug dealing and drug addiction, were sentenced in the county court on Tuesday.

Amanda Dawn Rogers, 23, and Zachary Robert Lienhard, 21, both of Coaldale, previously entered guilty pleas to one count each of criminal conspiracy-possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-heroin.President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II went along with a plea bargain made with the district attorney's office in which Rogers was placed in the county's Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP), or house arrest, for three months followed by 21 months probation. The plea agreement also called for Lienhard to be sentenced to serve three to 12 months in the county prison followed by 11 months probation. However, the unique agreement calls for Lienhard to not start his prison term until after Rogers completes her IPP placement so that he can take care of a child the two had together. The two were arrested by agents of the state Attorney General's office for drug dealing that occurred over a period of 2007-2009, according to the affidavit of probable cause filed in the matter.Rogers and Lienhard both admitted to long term heroin abuse problems and said they participated in sales to get money to feed their habits.Rogers told Nanovic she had gone through a rehabilitation inpatient program at a detox center for seven days and continues a counseling program. Lienhard told Nanovic that he is also drug free and gets regular counseling. Both were ordered to get drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluations and follow any recommendations for treatment (their current counseling programs will satisfy that requirement), zero tolerance imposed on D&A use, supply DNA samples and pay the $250 fee each. Lienhard must also provide three hours of community service per month while on probation or parole and was granted work release privileges. Both must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
