Northern Lehigh names new assistant principal

A former academic coach at Bangor Area High School has taken over as the new assistant principal at Northern Lehigh High School.

The school board unanimously agreed on Monday to appoint Scott Pyne to the post at a salary of $77,000 (prorated 2011-12 school year), effective upon his release from his current position.That action came after the board accepted the resignation of Donald Allen, effective the end of the work day July 28, 2011.Allen, who became assistant high school principal at Northern Lehigh in 2006, has decided to take the same position at Northwestern Lehigh High School.He will join former Northern Lehigh High School Principal Aileen Yadush, who also resigned from the district in June after she accepted a position to become high school principal at Northwestern Lehigh.Pyne, of Pen Argyl, has spent the past eight years at Bangor, where he began his career as an English teacher. By his third year, he took over as English department chair, and by his fifth year, took over as academic data coach."I'm really excited to be there," said Pyne, 29. "It seems like an amazing place."Pyne said he's eager to join his former Bangor colleague, recently appointed high school Principal Robert Vlasaty."I'm ready to step into the position," he said. "I'm a data-based decision guy."The board's decision to hire Pyne comes after it agreed at a special meeting last month to appoint Vlasaty as high school principal at a salary of $95,000 (prorated 2011-12 school year).Vlasaty, 42, of Nazareth, had most recently served as principal at Bangor High School, a position he had held for the past three years. Game workers consist of ticket sellers and takers, game announcers, scoreboard operators, timers, field judges and scorekeepers.
