Thorpe teen facing multiple charges

A Jim Thorpe teen is facing multiple charges following an incident that occurred in the borough on March 12 about 12:50 a.m.

Borough police said officers were dispatched to 205 Center Ave. for a report of criminal mischief. While investigating the incident police encountered William B. Maurer, 19, of 137 Lentz Trail, who was underaged and displayed signs of being heavily intoxicated, police said.After being told he was going to be arrested Mauer became combative and allegedly spit in the face of an officer several times. He had to be physically subdued. While in the holding cell at the police station Maurer threatened to kill the officers.Maurer was charged with aggravated and simple assault, terroristic threats, resisting arrest, persistent disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and underage drinking. He was arraigned by duty District Judge Joseph Homanko, of Weatherly, and committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning after failing to post $10,000 straight cash bail.
