It didn't seem as though Northern Lehigh star running back Cody Remaley had as many yards as he did even he was surprised by his total.

Remaley only carried the ball 10 times, but he turned those chances into 204 yards and three touchdowns, leading his squad to the 42-0 Colonial League win over visiting Notre Dame of Green Pond."I definitely didn't expect to hear that I had that many yards on the night," Remaley said after the game. "Now that I hear it, it still seems a little unreal. I just owe it all to my line and my fullback Matt Gill for opening up the opportunities for me and I'm really glad we got the win."The mercy-rule went into effect about halfway through the third frame as the Bulldogs flexed their muscles by pounding the Crusaders in nearly every facet of the game."We're really happy with the effort of the kids tonight," Northern Lehigh coach Joe Tout said. "I got the feeling that we were really prepared for the game and it showed."The 'Dawg defense stepped things up, as they limited the Crusaders to 70 yards of offense on the night and blanked them on the scoreboard."I think our defense definitely stole the spotlight tonight," Tout said. "Even though the spotlight is on the offense most of the time, I think our defense really came up big tonight."After Notre Dame sputtered and had to punt, the Bulldogs' Jake Kern took the punt return and raced 57 yards for the initial score of the season. Channing Shiffert's PAT put Northern Lehigh up 7-0 and it never looked back from there.The teams traded possessions a couple of times and the 'Dawgs got the ball on the Crusader 10. Two plays later, NL hit paydirt as QB Dylan Hofmann found a wide open Nick Valentini for the 13-0 lead.Kern came up big on the ensuing possession, recovering an ND fumble on the Crusaders' 10-yard line. Kern then found the endzone again, upping the lead to 20-0.In the second quarter, Remaley maneuvered for his biggest gain of the night, breaking free and racing 90 yards for the 27-0 lead with 8:10 left in the half.After the intermission, Remaley added two more scores. On the opening possession of the second half, NL put together their best series of the night a nine-play, 56-yard drive that ate up five minutes off the clock that ended with Remaley taking the ball in from the ND 26.On their next possession, NL's Remaley did most of the legwork again. This time, he pounded 49 yards for a score to help his team win going away."I thought there were definitely things that we can work on in practice over the course of the next week because we have a really big test next week when we travel to Wilson," Tout said. "We're going to work hard and be as prepared as we can be."
