Jillian Knoblauch Barron was named as Tamaqua head softball coach Tuesday night by the Tamaqua Area School Board.

Barron replaces Amanda Luna, who stepped down for personal reasons. Barron is a former Lady Raider athlete and softball player. She is the daughter of former Tamaqua softball coach Terry "Nails" Knoblauch and served as an assistant coach under Luna.Barron's salary will be $2,800.The board also approved the following coaching appointments.Allen Graver, Tamaqua, head junior varsity baseball coach, $2,000.Caleb Calarco, New Ringgold, assistant varsity baseball coach, $1,874.Jay Pilla, Lake Hauto, assistant JV baseball coach, $1,027.Frank Wenzel, New Ringgold, assistant junior high track and field coach, $2,800.The board also approved the following volunteer coaches: Kyle Berezwick, Mahanoy Plane, girls basketball; George J. Sanchez, Tamaqua, wrestling; Craig Valentine, Tamaqua, baseball; and Dylan Peters, elementary teacher, baseball.
