Hummel earns Second Team All-Commonwealth honors

In her first year of collegiate soccer, Alvernia College freshman Katie Hummel was recognized for her play on the Crusaders' defensive with a spot on the 2010 All-Commonwealth All-Star Second Team.

The Tamaqua graduate started in all but one of the Crusaders' 22 games this season, which led to a record-breaking 12 wins on the season and the school's first appearance in the Commonwealth Conference championships.Hummel anchored a defense that allowed just 14 goals during the regular season. The 2009 TIMES NEWS Player of the Year was the only defensive change to a Crusaders' defense that allowed 53 goals last season.
