Bad check, other incidents probed

State police at Lehighton are investigating a bad check, theft and other incident.

Troopers said an unamed suspect wrote a check from a account that had insufficient funds to Borger's Septic Services. The work was done at the Cayo residence at 89M Quail Road, in Eldred Township, Monroe County, on May 7, troopers noted. The investigation into the incident is continuing.Joanne Johnson, 67, of 3064 Pleasant View Drive, Kunkletown, Polk Township, Monroe County, reported a cement garden gnome was stolen from the front yard of her property. The gnome was wearing maroon clothing with a black beard and smoking a pipe. It is valued at $60. The incident occurred sometime between midnight and 11 a.m. on Monday, June 14.Dale Lee Steigerwalt, 33, of 142 Little Gap Rd., in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County, reported someone removed a plastic barrel of copper fittings from next to his garage sometime between June 10-13. The copper has an estimated value of $350.
