Turnpike motorists detoured

Motorists were detoured off the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike at Mahoning Valley Monday morning because of a police incident at the 88.2 mile marker north bound. Turnpike workers handed out directions as to how to navigate through Carbon or Monroe counties to get back on the pike at Pocono. According to police reports, a man threatened to jump off a bridge on the turnpike and his actions forced state police to close the northbound lanes. Traffic was backed up more than a mile. Police eventually talked the man down from the overpass at mile marker 88 over Mud Run.
