Julia E. Baun and Mario A. "Tony" Giberti announced their engagement during a Memorial Day vacation in New Hampshire.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Elizabeth N. Baun of Greensboro, N.C. and John T. Baun of Buffalo, N.Y., and the granddaughter of Marilyn Ord and the late, James N. Ord of Palmerton.She is a 1997 graduate of the Park School in Snyder, N.Y. and a 2001 graduate of Dickinson College in Carlisle, where she majored in biology and anthropology.After receiving her commission into the U.S. Army, she has served as a signal officer and a civil affairs officer in the U.S., Korea, Germany, and during two tours of duty in Iraq.While serving in Iraq on the first tour, she was aide-de-camp for the deputy commanding general of the Multi-National Forces Command. As a civil affairs officer during the second tour, she worked on reconstruction and development projects throughout Baghdad.She is currently stationed at Ft. Bragg, N.C.The prospective bridegroom is the son of Donna M. Giberti of York, Pa. and Mario J. Giberti of Portsmouth, N.H.He is a 1999 graduate of Dallastown Area High School, Dallastown, Pa., and a 2003 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., where he majored in international relations.The former Captain Giberti served as an aide-de-camp to the commander of the 7th Army Joint Multinational Training Command in Grafenwoehr, Germany, and as a 2/63rd Armor unit platoon leader with the 1st Infantry Division during "Operation Iraqi Freedom II."He is currently an MBA candidate at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth University in N.H. and plans to graduate in the spring of 2010.The couple met while both were stationed with the U.S. Army in Germany.A September 2010 wedding in North Carolina is planned after Julia returns from her current deployment with the U.S. Army's Africa Command.
