Matthew Stephens of Tamaqua is one of four Wilkes University students to participate in the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) 57th Annual Tax Clinic on Nov. 19.

Stephens is a senior studying accounting. He is the son of George and Mary Ellen Stephens of Owl Creek.

The clinic, which was hosted by the Wilkes University's Sidhu School of Business and Leadership and PICPA, keeps professionals informed of recent developments in tax structure.

Proceeds from the clinic benefit a scholarship fund established by the Northeastern Chapter of PICPA, awarding partial scholarships to accounting students entering their senior year.

This year the scholarships were awarded to students from Wilkes University, University of Scranton, and Bloomsburg University, in recognition of high academic achievement in the study of accounting.
