Charges of driving under the influence of alcohol are pending against Khyle W. Willis, 18, of Schuylkill Haven, following a one-vehicle accident Dec. 18 at 7:35 a.m. on Route 443 (Pleasant Valley Road) in Pine Grove Township.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said he was drivijng a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse eastbound at a high rate of speed when the vehicle swerved abruptly onto the eastbound shoulder of the road and began to spin in a clockwise direction. The car left the roadway and struck a heavy metal post with its driver's side fender and then spun out of control causing the driver's side door to sheer off a mailbox owned by Mike Zerbe, Pleasant Valley Road. The vehicle traveled another 32 feet backwards and slammed into a tree.Police said the driver sustained minor injuries. He was transported to the Hershey Medical Center by the Pine Grove EMS.
