William Valinch, formerly of 407 Rolling Mill Ave., Tamaqua, will celebrate his 102 birthday on Dec. 22.

Currently residing in Sacramento, Calif., Bill was born in Gilberton, the son of the late John and Margaret (Zerdgusky) Valinch.He was married to the former Julia McGee for 70 years and has two sons, William of North Huntington and John of Carmichael, Calif. A long time Notre Dame fan, he continues to enjoy regular trips to the casino.As a young man, he worked at various mining jobs and was then employed by the former Atlas Powder Company, Reynolds.
